Tha Blue Carpet Treatment will be the eighth solo album released by rapper Snoop Dogg. Producers for the album include The Neptunes. It will be released on November 21, 2006 on Geffen.

The title of the album is related to his Crip gang affiliation, as blue is the color associated with the Crips. The album cover has undergone several revisions. The first concept, revealed in August 2006 on snoopdogg.com, featured a cartoon dog (representing Snoop Dogg) standing on a blue carpet that looks like a big blue bandana. Had this design been used, it would have been the third of Snoop's album covers to use the cartoon likeness of the rapper that was designed by his cousin Darryl Daniel. An updated version was shown on the Late Show with David Letterman 13th Anniversary Special on August 30, 2006 that substituted a parody of the famous Hollywood Sign which read "LONG BEACH" with an image of the actual sign. More recently, the album art has been changed again from a cartoon to a black-and-white photograph of Snoop Dogg over a blue background with the album and artist's name in white print in the bottom left corner. Geffen posted this as the final cover for the album on their Web site.[1]

Snoop Dogg told Billboard that he has been working on his new album, Tha Blue Carpet Treatment, for nine months. He has collaborated with the likes of R. Kelly, Ice Cube, Pharrell, Akon, B-Real of Cypress Hill and even Stevie Wonder. He also confirmed that Dr. Dre had a big input on this album, producing several tracks and even laying down a verse on a track called "Imagine." [2] [3] [4] The album will be released on November 20, 2006 in the United Kingdom and November 21 in the United States.

Snoop's new album takes the LBC native back to his gangsta roots. The rapper told MTV.com the album has allowed him to embrace his true nature. "I went right back to the 'hood,'" he said of his album's production. "I took it back to the basics. I've been making a lot of pop songs, lot of R&B songs. Songs that may have made my fans feel like I wavered from what I was naturally accustomed to doing. But I'm an entertainer and I entertain people and that's what I was feeling at the time. But right now, I'm feeling like going right back to the 'hood." Pharrell Williams said the rapper's newest music video, 'Vato' will not only show his gangsta side, but will also tackle the issue of violence between blacks and hispanics in Los Angeles and call for racial unity.

Snoop Dogg will award 9 winners of his his loyal fans who buy "Tha Blue Carpet Treatment" with special prizes. Tickets will be packed inside 9 random Blue Carpet Treatment CD's for the redemption of Ice Link watches. One lucky customer will be able to redeem a diamond Ice link watch worth $100,000. Three other winners will be prized with diamond Ice Link watches worth $10,000 and five less valuable ticket owners will get diamond Ice Link watches worth $5,000.[5]

Snoop Dogg has teamed up with household DJs from the West, East and the South and plans to release Tha Blue Carpet Treatment Mixtape, which will be hosted by DJ Skee, DJ Whoo Kid and DJ Drama. It will contain all the rumoured tracks that were cut from the final tracklisting of his anticipated studio album. It is set to be released weeks before the official album comes out.[6]

As of November 11th, 2006 the album has leaked to the internet and file sharing networks in full.
