The École normal de musique de Paris (also: École normal de musique de Paris-Alfred Cortot ) is a private and state-recognized music college in Paris , which was founded in 1919 by Alfred Cortot and Auguste Mangeot . Alfred Cortot succeeded in recruiting well-known musicians of the era such as Pablo Casals , Jacques Thibaud , Nadia Boulanger , Paul Dukas , Igor Stravinsky , Charles Münch , Wanda Landowska , Marguerite Long , Marcel Dupré and George Enescu as employees . Famous students such as Elliott Carter , Joaquín Rodrigo , Igor Markevitch , Dinu Lipatti and Samson François emerged from the school. In the school today 800 students are taught by 130 teachers in all branches of classical music.

The aim of the institution is, in the spirit of the founders of the school, to enable musicians to receive comprehensive training in the practical area (playing an instrument, singing, chamber music, composition, etc.), as well as knowledge in all theoretical disciplines ( solfège , analysis , music history etc.) to convey.
