history

The first written mention of the village comes from 1379. At that time Čilá was the seat of Mikšík ze Šlovic. At the beginning of the 15th century, the church in Zvíkovec gained the manorial rule over Čilá and in 1550 John the Younger Lobkowicz on Zbiroh owned the village. In the middle of the 16th century the place consisted of three farms and a sitter. The Thirty Years War led to the desolation of the village and it was not until 1715 that Čilá was called a village again. In the 19th century the Fürstenberg family acquired the property and in the first half of the 19th century the village with its 199 inhabitants belonged to Karl Egon II of Fürstenberg . In 1843 Tschilla / Čilla consisted of 16 houses with 122 inhabitants. Parish office was Skrey . Tschilla remained subordinate to Fideikommiss Pürglitz until the middle of the 19th century . After the patrimonial was replaced, Čilá became an independent municipality in 1848.

In the 20th century the population fell sharply and most of the houses are used as holiday homes for recreational purposes. After Vysoká Lhota, Čilá is the second smallest municipality in the country in terms of population.
