history

The first written mention of Ščítov was in 1397, when the village was rebuilt after a major accident - probably a fire. The owners of the village were probably the Vladiken von Klamoš ( Glatmoss ) since it was founded . The family died out in 1508 with the death of Jetřich von Klamoš in the male line. After a protracted dispute about inheritance, the Klamoš estate was bought up in 1521 by Vojtěch von Pernstein , who at the same time had also acquired the Chlumetz and Hradišťko- Žiželice estates . He struck the property on the left of the Cidlina of the Hradišťko-Žiželice manor. Johann von Pernstein , who had acquired the dominions in 1533, sold them to King Ferdinand I , who united them in 1547 to form a chamberlain for Chlumetz. In 1577 Johann von Wchinitz received the rule as a pledge. In 1611, King Matthias signed the Chlumetz Chamber of Commerce to Wenzel Graf Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau for loyal services in obtaining the Bohemian Crown. After Count Wenzel Kinsky invaded the parish church of St. Ursula in Chlumetz in 1620 to stop Hussite services, an uprising broke out in the area. During the Thirty Years War the village became extinct. In 1657, Štít - consisting of five farms, seven chalets and one kotten - was completely desolate. At the end of the 17th century the village was repopulated. In 1775 there was a great peasant revolt in the Chlumetz rule. On the country road running through the village there was a toll station between Štít and Pamětník near Chárovna.

In 1833 the village of Schtit or Sstit , located in the Bijov district , consisted of 25 houses in which 150 people lived. There was a forester's house in the village. The parish was Wapno . Until the middle of the 19th century, Schtit remained subject to the Fideikommissherrschaft Chlumetz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Štít formed from 1849 a municipality in the judicial district of Chlumetz . From 1868 the village belonged to the Neubydžow district and was incorporated into Újezd . In 1869, Štít had 207 inhabitants and consisted of 28 houses. In 1900 there were 208 people living in Štít, in 1910 there were 207. In 1904 the village broke away from Újezd and formed its own municipality. In 1930 Štít had 183 inhabitants and consisted of 43 houses. In the course of the territorial reform of 1960 the Okres Nový Bydžov was dissolved, since then Štít belongs to the Okres Hradec Králové . On June 14, 1964, it was incorporated into Klamoš . In the 2001 census, 70 people lived in the 50 houses in the village.
