A bilabial click is a clicking sound .

The sound is created by the fact that an oral chamber is formed in the mouth: A closure is formed with the back of the tongue at the velum and lips (see: closure sound ). By releasing the primary (bilabial) seal, air flows into the oral cavity in front of the velar seal. This creates a sound that is used as a phoneme in the ǃXóõ . Clicks are among the most ingressive sounds.

Bilabial clicks are sometimes mistakenly equated with air kisses. However, in contrast to kisses, the said sounds are not pursed and they sound more like smacking.

The IPA mark is similar to a circled point , but can also be made slightly oval.
