Stelberg is north of Lindlar, southwest of Breun and north of the village of Steinenbrücke . The community is connected to state road 284 via an access road. Neighboring towns are Müllerhof and Oberfeld .

The name of the place can be traced back to "steep" (= rising valley). In a document from September 1st, 1550 the following is mentioned: Stelbrich (= Stelberg) by Felde (= Unterfeld), 1 sol, hait Keiß Petter (= cheese Peter).

In 1830 Stelberg had 11 residents.
