history

The farm was first mentioned as stuppenbech in 1318 . The place name is derived from "stupp", the tree stump.

A hut in Stoppenbach is mentioned as early as 1587. So iron ore was mined.

In the place there used to be a cross in memory of the misfortune of the collapsed iron ore mine. In 1848 a chapel in honor of St. Odilia was built on this site and in 1937 it was replaced by the little holy house "auf dem Kuhzell".

The municipal and Gutbezirksstatistik the Rhine Province leads Stoppenbach 1871 with a dwelling house and ten inhabitants.

After 1945 a housing estate was built on the farm.
