Unterkotten is a district of the municipality of Lindlar in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Unterkotten is located southwest of Lindlar in the valley of the Ommerbach . Neighboring places are Unterommer , Müllersommer and Linde .

history

In 1534, the place name Kotten was first mentioned in a document of the Marienbruderschaft (archive of the Lindlar Church). In the topographical survey of the Rhineland map from 1824, today's Unterkotten is recorded with the place name "Kotten". The Prussian first recording from 1844 shows the place without a place name. From the official topographic map from 1893 to 1896, the place name is Unterkotten.
