Untersteinbach is located northwest of Lindlar. Neighboring towns are Mittelsteinbach , Heibach and Stoppenbach .

history

In 1318 Steinbach was first mentioned in a document as stenbeche .

The Steinbach Castle , which administered the Steinbach Office in the Duchy of Berg , used to stand in Untersteinbach . However, the castle fell into disrepair and the last remains of the wall were removed in 1962.

In a document dated September 6, 1363, it is noted: "Item de Wipperfelde, Bechen, Curten, Oylpe, Lyntlan, Ouerroide, Engelskirchen, Keppel et parochia de Wippervuerde in officio de Steynbech".
