Oberkotten is a district of the municipality of Lindlar in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Oberkotten is located northwest of Lindlar on state road 129. A right tributary of the Kürten Sülz rises in the village . Neighboring towns are Mittelsteinbach and Süttenbach .

history

In 1534, the place name Kotten was first mentioned in a document of the Marienbruderschaft (archive of the Lindlar Church). In the map Topographical Survey of the Rhineland from 1825, today's Oberkotten is recorded with the place name "Koten". The Prussian first recording from 1840 names the place "Aufm Kotten". From the official topographic map from 1894 to 1896, the place name is Oberkotten.
