From the Charter of the Duchy of Berg from 1789 of the Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking shows that the local area of at that time part Honschaft Breidenbach was in the parish Lindlar.

The place is unlabelled on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825. The Prussian first recording from 1840 shows the residential area under the name Im Schatzsiefen . From the Prussian new record of 1894/96, the location is regularly recorded on the measuring table as an estimate depth .

The place, which was categorized as an isolated house in 1845 according to the overview of the government district of Cöln and called Estimation Depths , had at that time a residential building with eight inhabitants, all of whom were Catholic. The municipality and manor district statistics of the Rhine Province list Schätzsiefen 1871 with two houses and eleven inhabitants. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, two houses with four residents are given for estimation depths . In 1895 the place had two houses with eleven inhabitants, in 1905 one house and four inhabitants are given.

In the 1960 / 70s the place fell into desolation.
