The place Wurtscheid is a district of the municipality Lindlar , in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Wurtscheid lies between Waldbruch and Vellingen on the ridge of the Lennefertal. A brook flows through the village and flows into the Lennefer Bach .

history

The ending of the place name -scheidt indicates a border line, and in fact the boundary between the manor Dürscheid and the manor Lindlar ran through Wurtscheid. The courtyard was probably built as early as the 10th century, but it can only be documented in 1470. In a document, the place was mentioned as wurtscheit .

In the Middle Ages, the farm belonged to the Stolzenbach Honschaft in the Lindlar parish.

In 1830 the "Topographical-Statistical Description of the Royal Prussian Rhine Province" noted: "Wurthscheid with 46 [inhabitants]".

The municipal and Gutbezirksstatistik the Rhine Province leads Wurtscheid 1871 with eight houses and 55 residents.

In 1932 the towns of Unterheiligenhoven, Klespe, Berg, Stolzenbach, Ellesbach and Wüstenhof were to be supplied with electricity by the Overath electricity cooperative, according to the council decision of the Lindlar community council.
