The village of Lennefermühle or more commonly Lennefer Mühle is a district of the municipality of Lindlar , in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Lennefer Mühle is located in the southwest of Lindlar on the Lennefer Bach near the border with the city of Overath . Lenneferberg is a neighborhood .

history

In the 15th century Lennefer Mühle belonged to the parish of Hohkeppel and the Honschaft Vellingen . It was called Lynffe or Linffe . The court was first mentioned in 1413 as Gut Lynffe in the chamberlain register of St. Severinstift. As Dat guit zur Linffe , we find it in 1550 as an entry in the role of the Lindlar court estates.

It was not until 1666 that the name of Müllerslinffe in the list of homage to Hokeppeler subjects of Count Palatine Philipp Wilhelm indicates that the mill that gave it its name was built to this day. This was a grain mill with an overshot water wheel, which drove two grinding cycles - one for meal, one for flour. The mill ditch was derived directly from the Lennefe without a pond. Today it is the last visible evidence of the so-called fruit mill at the time.

In the remainder of the 17th and into the 19th century, the farm and mill were run and revitalized by different owner families until Johann Müller, the then operator of the mill with an attached bakery, bought the farm.

In 1897 a fire destroyed the old half-timbered courtyard - according to stories, this happened while the residents were in church, so that no quick help could prevent the loss of the main building. However, the mill and a stable building remained unaffected by the flames. In the same year Johann Friedrich Müller - called "Klitze" due to his small body size - had a new residential building with an adjoining stable built in massive brick construction, which was very common for the region at that time.

The mill had to give way to the expansion of the valley road in the 1960s. So it remained the agricultural operation, which was given up in the 1970s due to a lack of successors.

Due to § 10 and § 14 of the Cologne Act , the municipality of Hohkeppel was dissolved in 1975 and extensive parts of Lindlar were incorporated. Including Lennefer Mühle.

To this day, the Lennef Mill is family-owned and serves as a residence and place of work for the creative agency die | site. In addition to the massive brick buildings, the half-timbered stable belonging to the old courtyard has been preserved to this day, the year of construction is located in the 17th century.
