Rehbach is a place in the municipality of Lindlar , Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Rehbach is located in the southwest of Lindlar. The neighboring towns are Herkenhähn , Vellingen , Brandsheide , Ober- and Unterfrielinghausen .

history

In 1467 Rehbach is mentioned for the first time in a statement for the Steinbach office with the name "Riebach" . In 1715, Rehbach is listed on the Topographia Ducatus Montani as Freyhof and named "Rebig" . In the topographical survey of the Rhineland map from 1817, the spelling of the place name is “Reberg” . From the Prussian first recording in 1845, the current spelling Rehbach is used.

The place name comes from Roden or Reuden. The wayside cross in Rehbach was donated by the Thiel couple in 1763. Thiel operated the iron ore mine on Rehbacherberg.

Due to § 10 and § 14 of the Cologne Act , the municipality of Hohkeppel was dissolved in 1975 and extensive parts of Lindlar were incorporated. Including Rehbach.
