Location of Felsenthal in Lindlar

The village Felsenthal was a district of the municipality Lindlar , in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Felsenthal was east of Lindlar , south of Frielingsdorf on the municipality border with Engelskirchen in the Leppetal .

history

From the Prussian new admission of 1894/96, the place is recorded on measuring table sheets as Felsenthal . In the 19th century, the place belonged to the mayor's office of Lindlar in the Wipperfürth district .

The narrow-gauge railway Engelskirchen - Marienheide ( Leppetalbahn ) ran through the village from Engelskirchen to Marienheide . Felsenthal was a stop on the narrow-gauge railway (first day of operation September 5, 1897, last day of operation March 31, 1958) and was at km 6.7.

The station had an access track to the quarries, two loading tracks and one track each with a buffer stop on the right and left of Leppestrasse (L 302).

Today's relics (2010) of the last quarry of the Bergisch-Märkischen stone industry, closed in 1929 (on the border to a nature reserve) are:

  • An approx. 37 m long, 2 m high, 4 m wide superstructure over the Leppebach (barrel vault made from Grauwacke)
  • Concrete surrounds of the stopping point area
  • Stone crusher building with loading tunnel and stone bunker
  • Concrete foundations in the slope area
  • Rail, tool and machine scraps
