Location of Karlsthal in Lindlar

Karlsthal is a place in the municipality of Lindlar , Oberbergischen Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The industrial site is in the northeast of the municipality of Lindlar in the Leppe valley . The towns of Oberleppe , Dassiefen , Eibacherhammer and the town of Thal, which belongs to Gummersbach, are in the vicinity .

history

In the Prussian first recording from 1840, two mill symbols are shown at the place of Karlsthal. A factory is also noted at the location. From the topographic map from 1894 to 1896, the name of the place is Factory Karlsthal. Until 1990 the maps in Karlsthal show a mill symbol and a mill pond.

Before 1918 the factory was a production facility for synthetic wool. After that the factory was a wire drawing shop and a production facility for spiral springs. The water power of the Leppe was used through the use of a turbine.

The railroad tracks of the Leppetalbahn ran through the village from 1897 to 1950 . The factory had a loading platform.
