The village of Süttenbach with about 80 inhabitants is part of the municipality of Lindlar , Oberbergischen Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Stoppenbach is located north of Lindlar between Mittelsteinbach and Untersülze on state road 129. A tributary of the Lindlar Sülz flows through the place .

history

The first documentary mention falls on the year 1413. In the document Süttenbach is referred to as Suppelbech . The name of the place can be deduced from its proximity to a river, "supp" is a swamp, consequently the first name Suppelbech indicates a swampy area.

In the Middle Ages, the place belonged to the Honschaft Breidenbach in the parish of Lindlar.

In 1830 Süttenbach had 60 inhabitants.

Attractions

• Footfall from 1621. It depicts the crucifixion group in a sandstone relief. The weathered inscription is said to have read: "ERICHT V (ON) ANTON VND O.PITER SPICHER VND LEZTEN HIS WIFE VRSELA SPICHERS BORN HADKOPS 1621".
