... Nothing Like the Sun is the second studio album by British pop - singer Sting . It was released on October 5, 1987 through the A&M Records label.

Sting dedicated Nothing Like the Sun to his mother, who had recently died. The album is inspired by jazz , so Sting worked with jazz musicians such as Branford Marsalis , Kenny Kirkland , Darryl Jones and Omar Hakim . The songs on the album were written by Sting, only Little Wing is a cover by Jimi Hendrix .

Overall, the sound carrier stayed in the German album charts for 70 weeks. In the US, Nothing Like the Sun debuted on October 31, 1987 at number 54 on the Billboard 200 . In the fourth week of the chart, the album reached its highest ranking at number 9. Furthermore, Nothing Like the Sun debuted at number one on the British album charts.
