Roman Empire
- Publius Cornelius Dolabella becomes consul in the Roman Empire together with Gaius Iunius Silanus . Servius Cornelius Lentulus Maluginensis and Quintus Junius Blaesus become suffect consuls .
- After the fall of three legions under Publius Quinctilius Varus in Germania , Tiberius Julius Caesar is again given the office of proconsul . In the first year of his military command, however, he refrains from crossing the Rhine.
- Roman Illyria , in which the population had rebelled against Roman supremacy for four years, is divided into the provinces of Pannonia and Dalmatia .

- Straton II , the last ruler of the Indo-Greek Kingdom , is defeated by Rajuvula from the Indo-Scythian dynasty . With this, Hellenism in the Middle East comes to an end.
- The Parthian Artabanos II rises with the support of the nobility against King Vonones I , who is ostracized because of his "Roman" lifestyle. Two years of unrest followed until Artabanos finally seized power.
