Politics and world events
Roman Empire
- Fifth extension of the imperium proconsulare of Augustus for another 10 years. The imperium proconsulare was one of the central instruments of rule of Augustus and his successors (supreme authority over the legions stationed in the endangered provinces), but was never awarded to Princeeps Augustus for life, but only extended by the Senate: 18 and 13 BC. By 5 years, 8 BC. As well as 3 and 13 AD by 10 years. Only Tiberius received the imperium proconsulare on August 19, 14 AD for life.
- Gaius Silius and Lucius Munatius Plancus are consuls of the Roman Empire .
- April 3 : The Roman Emperor Augustus completes his will and adds the report Res gestae divi Augusti for desired inscriptions .
- C. Iulius Caesar Germanicus takes command of the legions in the Roman-controlled part of Germania , west of the Rhine.
- The Roman Senate decides to reserve the Vigintisexviri College , which is responsible for various public tasks in the city of Rome , for the status of the Eques ("knights").
- Tiberius Iulius Caesar enters Rome in triumph after relinquishing command of the legions in Germania. He now has practically all the powers of a princeps , like the 60-year-old Imp. Caesar Augustus .
