2nd handball Bundesliga 2018/19 women
Women's handball Bundesliga 2019/20

The season 2019/20 the second handball league for women was the 35th in their history. 16 teams played for promotion to the highest German division. The season began on September 7, 2019 and ended prematurely after the 22nd matchday on March 18, 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis . The HBF later determined that the two top-ranked teams in the cancellation table would be promoted to the 1st Bundesliga. There are no relegated teams from either league and none of the clubs in the third division have applied for a license for the second division, which is why the division will play the next season with only 14 teams.

mode

The mode was everyone against everyone with a home and away game. The leader of the table is promoted directly to the 1st Bundesliga . The last four teams are relegated directly to the 3rd division . In the event of a tie, the better goal difference decides. If the goal difference is the same, play-offs are scheduled. After the season, a relegation will be held for the first time, in which the second-placed player in the 2nd Bundesliga meets the 13th of the 1st Bundesliga. In the first and second leg it is about the remaining or promotion to the upper house of German women's handball. Due to this innovation, there will only be one permanent promoter from the 2nd division and, accordingly, one permanent relegated member from the 1st division.
