25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert
The 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert was a two-day concert for the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . It took place at Madison Square Garden on October 29-30, 2009 , and tickets ranged from $ 75 to $ 2,000 .
The idea behind the concert was to have members of the Hall of Fame perform in different constellations within eight segments ( Crosby, Stills and Nash , Simon and Garfunkel , Stevie Wonder , Bruce Springsteen , Aretha Franklin , Jeff Beck , Metallica and U2 ) and to present their own songs or songs from other Hall of Fame members. Instead of Jeff Beck, a segment with Eric Clapton was originally planned, but at the time of the concert he had just had the gallstones removed.
A four-hour cut of the concert was broadcast for the first time by the US television provider HBO on November 29, 2009 ("E" = Edit). The concert was also available on DVD (HBO compilation on two DVDs plus a bonus DVD), on Blu-ray and on two double CDs or as a 4-CD box (including six bonus tracks, marked with "4") released.
Metallica's appearance with Lou Reed eventually led to the recording of their joint album Lulu .
