Politics and world events
Roman Empire
- Imperial crisis of the 3rd century : Gallienus tries to reverse the defection of the western provinces of Rome and attacks Postumus , the emperor of the Imperium Galliarum . On his first attack, Postumus is able to escape due to the carelessness of his cavalry commander Aureolus . During the subsequent siege of the emperor in a Gallic city, Gallienus is wounded by an arrow and has to break off the campaign. Gallienus will come to terms with the loss of the western provinces until the end of his rule.
Empire of China
- Empire of China / Time of the Three Kingdoms : Sima Zhao , Prince of Jin, dies in Luoyang before he can take power against Emperor Cao Huan . His son Sima Yan inherits his position and title.
- Wu Emperor Sun Hao forces the late Sun Xiu's wife , Empress Zhu , to commit suicide and banishes his four sons, of whom he later executes the two older ones.
- Based on a prophecy, the superstitious Wu emperor Sun Hao arranged the costly move of the government from Jianye to Wuchang .
- Four months after Sima Zhao's death, Sima Yan carries out his father's plans and forces Emperor Cao Huan to be deposed . This seals the end of the Wei Dynasty and the beginning of the Jin Dynasty . From now on Sima Yan calls herself Emperor Jin Wudi.
