Europe
- Because of the allegations against Pope Symmachus of having committed crimes such as unchastity and the celebration of Easter on the wrong day, street fights broke out in Rome between supporters of Symmachus and those of the deposed antipope Laurentius .
Roman-Persian Wars
- Another Roman-Persian War broke out between the Eastern Roman Empire and Persia when Great King Kavadh I advanced into Roman territory. It lasts until 507 . In October the Persian army reaches Amida and begins to siege the city . First, the Roman defenders can repel the Persian attacks.
- When Vakhtang I Gorgassali of Iberia refuses to join the war against Byzantium, Kavadh I attacks the small Caucasus empire . Although the Persians are three times superior, the Iberians managed to defend their borders in a four-day battle. Wachtang is seriously injured on the last day of the battle and dies a few days later. He is buried in the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in the capital Ujarma .
- The Ghassanids make peace with the Romans under Emperor Anastasios I and become allies.
Empire of China
Liang Wu Di founded the Liang Dynasty in the south of the Chinese Empire , which replaced the Qi Dynasty . Immediately after taking office, he preferred Buddhism to Confucianism and Daoism and described them as "erroneous, external teachings", but retained them in the interests of the state. He bans animal sacrifices and speaks out against the death penalty .
