ABBA - The Museum is an interactive exhibition about the pop group ABBA , which opened on May 7, 2013 in the Swedish capital Stockholm . As part of the Swedish Music Hall of Fame , the museum is located in the basement of the building on Djurgården in Stockholm, near the Gröna Lund amusement park. Organizers estimate one million visitors a year.

Plans for a planned ABBA museum in Stockholm, inspired by the Beatles Museum in Liverpool , England , were first announced by founders Ulf Westman and Ewa Wigenheim-Westman in 2006. The museum was originally scheduled to open in 2008 in Stockholm harbor. The project was abandoned after financial discrepancies in 2009, the port is now the Photography Museum Fotografiska houses. Instead, the touring exhibition ABBA World started on January 26, 2010 in Earl's Court Exhibition Center in London, which was subsequently also shown in Sydney, Australia, and Győr, Hungary .

On October 3, 2012, new plans for the museum were announced. At the opening on May 7, 2013, in addition to numerous journalists from the international press, the three former ABBA members Anni-Frid Lyngstad , Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus were also present. Agnetha Fältskog was at this time for the promotion of her album A in London.

The museum houses u. a. the installations and exhibits from ABBA World , such as the show stage with holograms of the group, on which you can sing karaoke to the songs . Also included are numerous costumes that were provided by the band members. These include, for example, the famous "Waterloo costumes", the "cat costumes" and those outfits from the ABBA world tour in 1977. In the museum, several backdrops were built true to the original, including a. the Office of Polar Music , the recording studio and the cottage on Viggsö in which Andersson and Ulvaeus many of the famous ABBA songs composed. A special attraction is the "Ring-Ring-Telefon", relative to the beginning of the exhibition. The four former members of ABBA call there at irregular intervals to speak to visitors who happen to be present. There are several stations in the museum where visitors can sing and dance to the band's music. A large number of merchandising products from the 1970s (soap, stockings, dolls, bags, etc.), a number of single and album covers and some record awards are also on display . In 2015 the exhibition was expanded to include four life-size silicone figures.
