Adam Taubitz (born October 7, 1967 in Chorzów , Upper Silesia ) is a German violinist , trumpeter , guitarist and composer of classical music and jazz .

Live and act

At the age of five Taubitz received his first violin lessons from his father. At the age of eleven he made his debut as a soloist with the Silesian Philharmonic; later he continued his studies in Freiburg im Breisgau with Wolfgang Marschner . Taubitz was the winner of numerous competitions such as B. in Tibor Varga , Sion; Nicolò Paganini , Genoa or the Ludwig Spohr Competition in Freiburg. In 1989 he became first concertmaster of the Basel Symphony Orchestra under Nello Santi . In 1992 he took over the artistic direction of the Chamber Symphony Basel and from 1994 to 1996 the Camerata de Sa Nostra in Palma .

From 1997 he was the first section leader of the second violins with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Claudio Abbado . As a teenager, his musical curiosity led him to different styles of music, with jazz always coming first. For this reason he learned to play the trumpet himself. In 1999 he founded The Berlin Philharmonic Jazz Group , with which he performs as a violinist and trumpeter across Europe and Japan. He is also a permanent member of the Absolute Ensemble New York City under Kristjan Järvi and the Primarius of the Aura Quartet Basel.

Taubitz made numerous CD recordings both as a classical soloist and as a jazz musician. He played with Kirk Lightsey , Philip Catherine , Dave Taylor , Roman Dyląg , Julio Barreto , Daniel Schnyder , Jean-Paul Brodbeck , Marcin Grochowina , Daniel Pezzotti , Andy Scherrer , Adrian Mears , Christian Gutfleisch , Emmanuel Pahud , Stephan Kurmann , Makaya , among others Ntshoko , Heiner Althaus , Thomas Hampson , Ole Edvard Antonsen , Dieter Hallervorden , Angelika Milster , Famoudou Don Moye , Thomas Quasthoff and Nigel Kennedy .

He currently lives as a freelance musician in Switzerland.
