Ernst Otto Adolf von Heinemann (born June 17, 1820 in Helmstedt , † September 24, 1906 in Dresden ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Adolf was a son of the Brunswick district court director Friedrich von Heinemann (1770-1854) and his wife Charlotte, nee Meinders (1785-1854). He had nine siblings, including the finance counselor and entomologist Hermann (1812–1871), Major General Alexander (1813–1884), the writer Ferdinand (1818–1881) and the historian Otto (1824–1904).

Military career

Heinemann attended the high school in his hometown and took effect on July 1, 1836 as a cadet in the 26th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian army one. By mid-July 1839 he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and in 1843/46 he was commanded for further training at the General War School. After that, Heinemann was assigned to the Central Gymnastics Institute in 1847/48 and was appointed adjutant of the II Battalion at the end of July 1848 . For a year he worked as a teacher at the division school in Erfurt , at the end of May 1852 he was assigned to the topographical department of the General Staff and a month later he was promoted to prime lieutenant. From mid-August 1853 to mid-November 1856 he was then assigned to the service of his regiment chief , Prince Karl Anton von Hohenzollern . In the meantime , Heinemann was promoted to captain , then transferred to the Guard Reserve Infantry (Landwehr) Regiment and in mid-January 1858 was appointed company commander. After three months as a company commander in the 2nd Battalion in the 4th Guards Landwehr Regiment in Düsseldorf , he joined the Guards Jäger Battalion on July 1, 1860 . On February 10, 1863 he was transferred as a major to the 2nd Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 47 and in mid-March 1866 he was appointed commander of the 2nd battalion. Heinemann led his battalion in the same year during the war against Austria in the battles near Nachod , Skalitz , Schweinschädel and Königgrätz .

Awarded the Order of the Crown III. After the peace treaty , Heinemann was promoted to Colonel and Commander of the Westphalian Fusilier Regiment No. 37 until June 18, 1869 . Heinemann led his association during the war against France in the battles at Weißenburg , Wörth and Sedan as well as in the enclosure and siege of Paris . For his work with the Iron Cross awarded II. Class, he took after the war ended on July 15, 1871 Pension his farewell . On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the coronation of Wilhelm I , Heinemann received the character of Major General on October 18, 1878 . On March 1, 1879, his pension was put up for disposal .

family

Heinemann married Marie, née Lindner (1844–1906), widowed Freiin von Budberg on March 1, 1879 in Dresden . The marriage remained childless.
