Adolf von Rauch (officer)
Gustav Adolf von Rauch (born August 25, 1805 in Potsdam , † June 26, 1877 in Baden-Baden ) was a Prussian cavalry officer , chamberlain and court marshal of Princess Luise of Prussia , daughter of Kaiser Wilhelm I and Grand Duchess of Baden . In addition, he was chairman of the Numismatic Society in Berlin .
Life
origin
Adolf von Rauch was the son of the Prussian war minister and honorary citizen of Berlin , General of the Infantry Gustav von Rauch , and his first wife Caroline von Rauch, née Freiin von Geusau . His grandfathers were Major General Bonaventura von Rauch and Lieutenant General Levin Freiherr von Geusau .
His brothers were the general of the cavalry Gustav Waldemar von Rauch , the general of the infantry Albert von Rauch and the Prussian chief stable master Fedor von Rauch . His sister was Rosalie Countess of Hohenau, born of smoke , in morganatic marriage with Prince Albert of Prussia married, the youngest brother of King Frederick William IV. , And Kaiser Wilhelm I .
Gardes du Corps and Court Marshal
Adolf von Rauch attended the Joachimsthal Gymnasium in Berlin. From 1822 to 1855 Rauch was a Prussian cavalry officer in the regiment of the Gardes du Corps in Berlin, most recently with the rank of major . In 1856 he became chamberlain and court marshal of Princess Luise of Prussia , who married the Prince Regent and future Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden in the same year . Rauch accompanied the future Grand Duchess of Baden to her residence in Karlsruhe.
Numismatist and collector
Adolf von Rauch was a well-known and knowledgeable collector of ancient coins; as a young officer he had been introduced to numismatic science by Benoni Friedländer . From 1870 until his death in 1877 he was chairman of the Numismatic Society in Berlin e. V. , the oldest numismatic association in Germany.
In 1853 the Rauch Collection was added to the Coin Cabinet of the Royal Museum Berlin. There were 4,300 Greek coins that Adolf von Rauch had collected. Julius Friedlander , the director of the Berlin coin cabinet and son Benoni Friedlander, raised his connoisseurship Adolf von Rauch and emphasized: "In particular, his imperial coins Greek and Asia Minor cities completed our series on handsomest." The Numismatic Collection is now one of the National Museums in Berlin in Museumsverbund of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation .
The Antiquarian Society in Zurich and the Association for Nassau Antiquities and Historical Research had awarded Rauch honorary membership.
Marriage and offspring
Adolf von Rauch married on February 1, 1836 in Berlin Therese von Ziegler (born May 19, 1817 in Stralsund , † August 13, 1857 in Bad Soden ), the daughter of Colonel a. D. Friedrich August von Ziegler and his wife Philippine Amalie, née Kypke.
The marriage had seven children:

Adolf von Rauch's grandchildren also included Maria Angelika Krevet, née von Rauch (1894–1983), who with her husband was Lieutenant Colonel a. D. Bodo Krevet founded the company FTBKrevet in Saarlouis .
