Alan Webb (born January 13, 1983 in Ann Arbor ) is an American triathlete and middle distance runner .

Career

Alan Webb started his athletic career first in athletics, in 2001 he stayed under 4 minutes in the mile run . He began studying at the University of Michigan in 2001 , which he dropped out the following year to become a professional athlete.

In 2004 he won the US elimination match over 1500 m for the Olympic Games in Athens , where he failed due to tactical errors in the prelude.

In 2005 he was over 1500 m US champion and finished ninth at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki . After he had to cancel the 2006 season because of iron deficiency anemia , he was at his best in 2007. He won the national indoor and 1,500 m indoor titles, broke Steve Scott's 25-year-old North American record in the mile run, and finished eighth in the 1,500 m World Championships in Osaka .

After things went less well for him in 2008 and he could not qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing , he decided in 2009 to work with Alberto Salazar as a coach.

In 2014 he decided to switch to triathlon. In order to be able to train better together with the squad of the American Association USA Triathlon , he moved with his wife Julia and his daughter to Scottsdale in Arizona.
