Albany is in the southwest of Orleans County. The town is primarily agricultural. The Black River flows through Albany in a northeast direction. The terrain is hilly, with no significant elevations. The highest point is the Holiday Hill with 373 m height. In the southwest is the Great Hosmer Pond .
