Alexander Meyer (born April 13, 1991 in Bad Oldesloe ) is a German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

Meyer began his career at VfL Oldesloe . For the 2005/06 season he moved to the youth team of Hamburger SV . At HSV he played for the U-17s in the B-Junioren-Bundesliga from the 2007/08 season , and in that season he also played for the U-19s in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga for the first time. For the 2009/10 season he moved into the squad of the Hamburg second team. In his first season for this he was not used. In November 2010 he finally made his debut in the Regionalliga when he was in the starting line-up against Chemnitzer FC on matchday 13 of the 2010/11 season . By the end of the season he came to eight appearances in the fourth-highest division. He was used twice in the 2011/12 season.

For the 2012/13 season Meyer moved to league competitor TSV Havelse . In his first season for Havelse, he only made twelve regional league appearances due to injury. He also missed a large part of the season with injuries in the 2013/14 season, he was used 15 times this season. In the 2014/15 season, however, he was used in 33 of 34 season games, only on the 34th and final day of the game Alexander Dlugaiczyk was preferred against the relegated Freie Turnerschaft Braunschweig . In the 2015/16 season, Meyer made 26 regional league appearances.

For the 2016/17 season he moved to the Regionalliga Nordost at Energie Cottbus . Meyer became a regular goalkeeper at Cottbus before tearing an inner ligament in November 2016. Meyer was only back in the matchday squad in April 2017, he made his comeback three game days before the end of the season in May 2017. In total, he made 14 appearances in the league in his first season at Cottbus.

After another five in the 2017/18 season, he moved to Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart in August 2017 , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2019. In his first season with Stuttgart he did not appear for the professionals in the Bundesliga , but he played four games for the second team in the regional league . In July 2018, he injured his cruciate ligament. He then missed a large part of the 2018/19 season and was not a single time in the Stuttgart matchday squad. With VfB he also had to relegate to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the season .

After his contract with Stuttgart expired, Meyer moved to second division SSV Jahn Regensburg for the 2019/20 season , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2021. He made his debut in the second-highest division in July 2019 when he was in the starting line-up against VfL Bochum on the first day of that season .
