Alexander Theodor Ferdinand von Kameke (born June 29, 1825 in Varchmin , † June 30, 1892 in Kolberg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Alexander came from the Pomeranian noble family von Kameke . He was the son of the landowner Otto Theodor Friedrich von Kameke (1791–1860) and his wife Louise Sophie Henriette, née von Mach (1795–1866).

Military career

Kameke occurred on October 10, 1842 Junker in the 34th Infantry Regiment (2nd Reserve Regiment) of the Prussian army and advanced to the end of June 1845 second lieutenant . In 1850/52 he was an adjutant in the substitute battalion of the 6th Brigade and then until the end of March 1853 to serve in the 2nd combined reserve battalion. This was followed by a job as adjutant of the 2nd battalion in Mainz . After his promotion to Prime Lieutenant , Kameke was aggregated into his parent regiment in January 1859 and commanded as a company commander in the 21st Combined Infantry Regiment. On May 1, 1859, he was transferred to this association , from which the 8th Pomeranian Infantry Regiment No. 61 emerged in July 1860 . After being promoted to captain , Kameke acted as chief of the 9th company in Neustettin , which he led in 1866 during the war against Austria in the battle of Königgrätz .

After the peace agreement , Kameke rose to major and in October 1868 was transferred to the 2nd Hanseatic Infantry Regiment No. 76 in Hamburg as a regular staff officer . At the beginning of the war against France , Kameke initially took over the regiment's replacement battalion, before being commissioned to lead the Westphalian Jäger Battalion No. 7 on August 23, 1870 during the siege of Metz . Awarded the Iron Cross II. Class, he was appointed battalion commander on March 29, 1871. Kameke became on September 2, 1873 Lieutenant Colonel and on March 22, 1876 to Colonel . As such, he was appointed commander of the Lower Rhine Fusilier Regiment No. 39 shortly afterwards . In the same capacity he then led the 7th Pomeranian Infantry Regiment No. 54 from June 22, 1880 to September 1, 1882 and was then appointed commander of the 6th Infantry Brigade in Szczecin under the position of his regiment à la suite . Kameke advanced to major general on September 13, 1882 , became commander of Stettin on August 3, 1886, and in this capacity received the character of lieutenant general on March 22, 1887 . On September 17, 1887, he was awarded the patent for his rank. In approval of his resignation request , Kameke was put up for disposal on May 8, 1888 with the statutory pension .

He was an honorary knight of the Order of St. John and holder of the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves.

Kameke married Anna Herwarth von Bittenfeld (* 1839) on October 23, 1860 in Münster . The following children were born from the marriage:
