Career

society

Cissokho started his career in the youth department of FC Gueugnon . He only played one season as a professional at Gueugnon and was used 22 times in Ligue 2 . In 2008 he moved to the Portuguese SuperLiga to Vitória Setúbal , where he became a regular straight away. On August 22, 2008 he made his debut in the SuperLiga in a 1-1 draw against Vitória Guimarães . In January 2009 he moved within the league to FC Porto for 300,000 euros . On January 24, 2009, he made his debut for Porto in a 2-0 win over Sporting Braga . As in his previous positions, he managed to become a regular player straight away. He was particularly convincing in the Champions League games against Manchester United , where he played against Cristiano Ronaldo and almost completely took him out of the game. On June 14, 2009, AC Milan announced that they had signed Cissokho for a transfer fee of 15 million euros. However, the player failed the medical test due to dental problems, so the change did not take place.

On July 19, 2009, Cissokho then moved for 15 million euros from FC Porto to the French club Olympique Lyon , where he received a contract until June 30, 2014, bringing him back to France after only one year in Portugal.

With Olympique Lyon he missed the French championship title. However, they caused a stir internationally when they defeated Spanish top club Real Madrid in the last 16 of the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League . In the first leg in Lyon, Cissokho and Lyon beat the huge favorites from Madrid 1-0. In the second leg in Madrid you could achieve a 1-1 draw. In the Champions League they made it to the semi-finals, where they failed at the top German club FC Bayern Munich (0: 1, 0: 3). Cissokho had played in every CL game up to the semi-finals.

For the 2012/13 season Cissokho moved for six million euros to the Spanish first division club Valencia , where he signed a four-year contract.

On August 20, 2013, Cissokho was loaned to Liverpool FC for one season .

For the 2014/15 season , Cissokho stayed in the Premier League and signed a four-year contract with Aston Villa . For the 2015/16 season he was loaned to his old club FC Porto . The loan was supposed to last until the end of the season, but ended early in December with his recall to England after Aston Villa signed a new coach with Rémi Garde .

In January 2017, Cissokho was loaned to Olympiacos Piraeus until the end of the season. Olympiakos also has the option to purchase.

In the summer of 2017 he switched to the Turkish first division club Yeni Malatyaspor . After a season for Yeni Malatyaspor Cissokho left the club and moved to Antalyaspor .
