history

The name Feuersang is documented in 1526 ("ab dem feuersanng ob Altnmarkht"). The name is either a clearing name , actually describes a historical forest fire , or the forest for the firewood production of the Flachau ironworks , for which the present-day villages of Flachau and Feuersang are supplied as Flachau colliery were responsible. The Feuersang vineyard long west below the Winterlehens, the Feuersang forest east above the Brandstatt near Palfen, while the Ebenfeld plateau and above Leiten and Neureith , and then Feuersang up to the present-day Gasthof Sattelgut was called. Today Feuersangberg is common, the addresses are Am Feuersang and Sattelweg .

When a vicariate in Flachau was established in the Altenmarkt parish under Archbishop Franz Anton von Harrach in 1722 , Reitdorf and Feuersang were largely directly subordinate to the “preservation of Altenmarkt”, and Reitdorf is still a parish in the Altenmarkt district.

In the 19th century, the farms Winterlehen (today's mountain inn), Deml, Seidllehen ( Ebenfeld corridor ), Oedlehen, Nadllehen, Edllehen (today Eder ), Pommerlehen, Trigl ( Leiten corridor ), Feichten ( Feuersang corridor ), Pertill (corridor Neureith ), and Hafnach , also the Hinter Kuchelberger Hütte , as well as Lecherl, Gruber and Sattler ( tavern Sattelgut ), Wexlmais (today Wexler ) and Muhrleiten (area Feuersang , Lecherl and Muhrleiten today declined), and in the valley Gänsbichl and Nestenbichl (each into the valley).

Infrastructure

Part of the Altenmarkt ski area is located on the northeast slope of the Feuersangberg and can be reached directly from the village. There are also three toboggan runs, two of which are illuminated at night.
