Controversy
Expression of sympathy for controversial party colleague
Amanda Lind described the former Swedish housing minister and green politician Mehmet Kaplan on social media as a "hero and pioneer". In the past he had to give up his ministerial post in the former Löfven government after it was revealed that he had contacts with the Turkish extremists Gray Wolves and the Islamist movement Millî Görüş and that he had compared Israel's policy towards the Palestinians with the National Socialists . For this show of sympathy Amanda Lind was criticized in both Swedish and international media. According to her own statement, she was referring purely to his work as a minister and member of the Green Party.
Cultural appropriation
Because Amanda Lind wears dreadlocks , she has been accused of cultural appropriation . Linnea Celik, initiator of the Menstruation Museum in Amsterdam, said according to “Nyheter idag”: “@amandalind - your hairstyle is cultural appropriation - a kind of blackfacing for hair. How do you intend to work against racism in cultural Sweden? "
