The production

Steven Spielberg found his lead actor, Richard Levin, in a Beverly Hills library . For the role of the red-haired girl, he hired Pamela McMyler from a list of actors. McMyler had previously had a small role in the film " The Boston Strangler " (The Boston Strangler).

Thanks to the help of the newcomer Dennis Hoffman, Spielberg was able to realize his debut with a budget of US $ 15,000.
