Amphoe Kaeng Khoi ( Thai : อำเภอ แก่งคอย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the northeast of Saraburi Province . Saraburi is located in the central region of Thailand .
geography
National Road No. 2, Thanon Mittraphap ( Saraburi - Nong Khai ), and the railway line from Bangkok to the northeast region ( Isan ) of the country lead through Amphoe Kaeng Khoi, which is why it is also known as the "gateway to Isan".
Neighboring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Phatthana Nikhom of Lop Buri Province , Amphoe Wang Muang and Amphoe Muak Lek of Saraburi Province, Amphoe Mueang Nakhon Nayok and Ban Na of Nakhon Nayok Province, and Amphoe Wihan Daeng , Amphoe Mueang Saraburi and Amphoe Chaloem Phra Kiat again in Saraburi.
The western foothills of the Khao Yai National Park are in the district ; The Chet Khot-Pong Kon Sao Nature Study Center with numerous waterfalls is also located here.
Economy and Importance
In Kaeng Khoi one 1600 was MW strong combined cycle power plant (see power plant Kaeng Khoi ) built, which was commissioned in of 2007. In the spring of 2005 there was controversy and demonstrations in the city in connection with the planning of this facility. In particular, the opponents criticized the withdrawal of water for the power plant cooling from the Pa Sak river .
history
Kaeng Khoi County was established in 1827 and called Khwaeng Kaeng Khoi, and the administrative building was in Ban Tan Diao. In 1897 the Khwaeng was converted into an amphoe , and in 1915 the administration building was moved from the banks of the Pa-Sak River to the nearby Kaeng Khoi station.

- Kaeng Khoi (Thai: เทศบาล เมือง แก่งคอย ) consisting of the complete tambon Kaeng Khoi.
- Thap Kwang (Thai: เทศบาล เมือง ทับ กวาง ) consisting of the complete tambon Thap Kwang.
