Amphoe San Kamphaeng (in Thai : อำเภอ สันกำแพง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) of the Chiang Mai Province . Chiang Mai Province is located in the northern region of Thailand .

Neighboring districts are (from west clockwise): Amphoe Saraphi , Mueang Chiang Mai , San Sai , Doi Saket and Mae On Chiang Mai province, and Ban Thi of Lamphun province .

history

In 1902 the Khwaeng Mae Om was founded. At the beginning of the 20th century, the counties outside Bangkok were renamed from Khwaeng to Amphoe . The Amphoe San Kamphaeng has existed since 1923.

The district of San Kamphaeng is divided into ten tambon ("subdistricts" or "communities"), which are further subdivided into 100 muban ("villages").

There is one commune with "city" status ( Thesaban Mueang ) in the district:

  • Ton Pao (Thai: เทศบาล เมือง ต้น เปา ) consisting of the complete tambon Ton Pao.

There are six municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Buak Khang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บวก ค้าง ) consisting of the complete tambon Buak Khang.
  • On Tai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ออ น ใต้ ) consisting of the complete Tambon On Tai.
  • Huai Sai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ห้วย ทราย ) consisting of the complete tambon Huai Sai.
  • San Klang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สัน กลาง ) consisting of the complete Tambon San Klang.
  • San Kamphaeng (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สันกำแพง ) consisting of the complete tambon Sai Mun and parts of the tambon San Kamphaeng, Chae Chang.
  • Mae Pu Kha (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล แม่ ปู คา ) consisting of the complete tambon Mae Pu Kha.

There are also three " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

  • San Kamphaeng (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล สันกำแพง ) consisting of parts of the Tambon San Kamphaeng.
  • Rong Wua Daeng (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ร้อง วัว แดง ) consisting of the complete tambon Rong Wua Daeng.
  • Chae Chang (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล แช่ ช้าง ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Chae Chang.
