The Bützow-Land office is located in the west of the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). In this office , eleven municipalities and the city of Bützow , in which the administrative seat is located, are united to carry out their administrative business. Originally 16 parishes belonged to the office. On 1 July 1995, the community was Viezen after Bernitt incorporated. On January 1, 1999, Parkow came to the city of Bützow. The municipalities of Göllin, Kurzen Trechow, Moisall and Schlemmin were incorporated into the municipality of Bernitt, and Klein Sien into the municipality of Jürgenshagen (January 1, 2000). Oettelin joined Zepelin on January 1, 2001 . Neuendorf was incorporated into Steinhagen on January 1, 2005 . Since that day, the communities of Baumgarten , Dreetz , Tarnow and Warnow from the dissolved Steintanz-Warnowtal Office have also belonged to the Bützow Land Office.
The Warnow flows through the center of the administrative area , into which the Nebel flows at Bützow (canalised in the Bützow-Güstrow Canal ). The terrain rises gradually from northeast to southwest - at Bernitt-Jabelitz it is 147 m above sea level. NHN ( Langer Berg ) the highest elevation of the office. The southern half of the administrative area is already in the Mecklenburg Lake District . In the west, the office borders on the district of Northwest Mecklenburg and in the south on the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim . The area is mainly characterized by agriculture. A remarkable soil monument is located in the municipality of Tarnows : the Boitiner stone dance .
The Baltic Sea motorway A 20 ( Lübeck - Stettin ) touches the northwest of the office, connecting roads lead from Bützow to Wismar , Bad Doberan , Schwaan , Güstrow and Goldberg .
