Office Frankenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Office Frankenberg was from the first half of the 14th to early 19th century, a subdivision of the land county Hessen and the Hesse-Kassel in today's southwestern part of the district Waldeck-Frankenberg , which was responsible both for the administration and the judiciary. The office comprised the districts of Frankenberg and Frankenau as well as the half court Geismar - essentially the area of the present-day towns and communities Frankenberg, Frankenau, Hatzfeld and Burgwald as well as individual places in the communities Allendorf (Eder) , Bromskirchen and Haina (monastery) .

Since Frankenberg was still badly damaged by the great fire of May 9, 1476 , the headquarters of the Frankenberg district was relocated to Wolkersdorf Castle, which was newly built on the site of the old Wolkersdorf moated castle . This created the Wolkersdorf office , to which the Röddenau lower courts (with the affiliated courts Rengershausen and Bromskirchen) and the Geismar court belonged. It was not until the 16th century that an independent office was created again in Frankenberg, in which, in addition to the city itself, the former St. Georgenberg monastery , the Rodenbach farm and the Wiesenfeld winery were combined and which was combined with the Wolkersdorf office in 1604.
