Anna Maiwald (born July 21, 1990 in Heidelberg , Baden-Wuerttemberg ) is a German athlete who specializes in all- around competitions . She also competes in short and long sprints . Maiwald is studying rehabilitation science for a master’s degree .
Athletic career
Anna Maiwald started playing sport at an early age and took part in competitions in which she achieved first and second places in various disciplines in the age group of children and schoolchildren. So she finished in 1999 at the XVII. Open-country school indoor sports festival in Walldorf took second place in the 30-meter run as well as in the long jump and in 2000 on the Karlovy Vary school day in three-way combat, second place and first place in four-way combat (three-way fight plus high jump). 2001 Maiwald won the XIX. Open-country school indoor sports festival in Walldorf as a W11 student, 1st place in the 2 x 35 meter hurdles . In 2002 she won the 2000 meter run as a student W12 at the endurance championships in Neckargemünd and in 2003 she won the XXI. State-open school indoor sports festival as a W13 student in high jump and shot put . In 2004 she took three first places at the Throwers Day in Haslach ; in the shot put, in the discus and javelin throw .
This versatility later paid off in the all-around competition. 2008 Maiwald won the heptathlon the German U-20 Youth Championship title . In 2009 she was able to defend her title with five individual best performances and set a new personal heptathlon record with 5411 points.
In 2012 Maiwald became German champion in the heptathlon with the team. In 2013 she was runner- up in the individual competition and was German champion in 2014 .
In 2015 Maiwald took 1st place in the heptathlon at the Universiade in Gwangju . The all-round part of the German championships was not held that year due to a lack of organizers. In 2016 the all-round competitions (parallel to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro ) will take place on August 13th and 14th in Kienbaum . At the end of June 2016 she was nominated as the only female heptathlete for the European Championships in Amsterdam , where she finished 10th with her season best of 6020 points.
Maiwald was a member of the C-team (400 m) at TSV Baden Östringen in 2008 and is now the B-team of the German Athletics Association (DLV) .
Since 2012 Maiwald has started for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen to which she came from TSV Baden Östringen . Before that she was with SG Nussloch until 2006 .
