Anton Christian von Strampff also Strampf (born May 9, 1754 in Arnstadt , † November 30, 1822 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was a member of a Thuringian family whose members were employed in Prussia. His parents were the Prussian captain and place major of Glogau Johann Ludwig von Strampf († 1762) and Christiane Hedwig Stolt († 1767). Together with his three older brothers, Strampff had his nobility in Prussia renovated on June 6, 1798 .

career

Strampff began his career in the Prussian Army in 1768 with the field artillery corps and in 1772 advanced to secondary lieutenant . He took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . In 1792 he was promoted to prime lieutenant in the 1st artillery regiment and delegated to the artillery academy in Berlin as a teacher . As a staff captain , he returned to his regiment in 1798, where he rose to major in 1805 . He took part in the Fourth Coalition and was wounded near Jena .

After a short period of inactivity due to surrender, Strampff became company commander of the 3rd foot artillery company of the newly established Brandenburg artillery brigade in 1809 . In the same year he was transferred to Breslau , where he became director of the Military Examination Commission in 1810. Also in 1810 he became an artillery officer in Kolberg and there in 1811 President of the Military Examination Commission.

Strampff took part in the Wars of Liberation , in particular the enclosure of Küstrin , the battle of Dennewitz and the sieges of Torgau and Stettin . He was awarded the Russian Order of St. Anne II Class for managing artillery affairs in front of Stettin . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1813 and was commander of the artillery in the IV Army Corps. Before Jüterbog , he also distinguished himself and received the Iron Cross, 2nd class. In 1813 he was promoted to colonel , and in 1815 to major general .

Strampff was the first commander of the United Artillery and Engineering School founded in 1816 from 1816 to 1820 . On the occasion of his 50th anniversary of the service he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class awarded. In 1820, as lieutenant general, he received his departure with a pension of 1,000 thalers .

Strampf was married twice. His first marriage was in 1779 with Charlotte Wilhelmine von Wentzel (1751–1782). It was not until 1796 that he married his second wife, Dorothea Friederike Elisabeth von Tschirschky (1774–1829) in Nieder Peilau . The following children resulted from both marriages.
