Antonio Rukavina ( Serbian - Cyrillic Антонио Рукавина , born January 26, 1984 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian football player . He is under contract with FK Astana and plays for the Serbian national team .

career

Antonio Rukavina began his career at FK Bežanija , for which he played 55 games in the first and second Serbian leagues and scored two goals until the end of 2006 . In January 2007 he moved to the first division club FK Partizan Belgrade . There he became team captain . He played 45 games for Partizan, in which he scored three goals. In addition, he was used twice in qualifying for the Champions League . He had a contract with Partizan until 2011.

In January 2008 he moved to the German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund , with whom he signed a contract dated until 2012. He played his first competitive game for Borussia on January 29, 2008 in the DFB Cup eighth final against Werder Bremen ; He made his Bundesliga debut four days later at 3: 3 in Duisburg . With Borussia Dortmund, Rukavina was in the DFB Cup final in Berlin on April 19, 2008 , which the team lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich . National team

Rukavina was part of the squad of the Serbian team at the U-21 European Football Championship in 2007 , in the final of which the Netherlands lost 4-1. He played a total of seven times for the U-21s .

Rukavina made his debut as a Serbian national player in June 2007 in a 2-0 away win against Finland . In 2010 he was part of the Serbian squad at the World Cup in South Africa , but was not used. In 2018 he also took part in the World Cup with Serbia . Here he was substituted on in the 1-0 win against Costa Rica and played from the start in the 0-2 defeat against Brazil . Serbia was eliminated after the preliminary round.
