Arkadi Arkadjewitsch Vjattschanin ( Russian: Аркадий Аркадьевич Вятчанин , scientific transliteration Arkadij Arkad'evič Vjatčanin ; born April 4, 1984 in Vorkuta ) is a Russian back swimmer .

Career

Arkadi Vyatchanin is a backstroke specialist . The student has been training in Taganrog since 1999 and has been part of the Russian national team since 2000. At the 2003 World Championships in Barcelona , Vyatchanin won the silver medal in the 100 m back and with the 4 × 100 m individual relay. In 2004 he won the bronze medals in Indianapolis with the individual relay relay and over 200 m back at the short course World Cup. Over 50 m and 100 m back, Vyatchanin took fifth place. The 2004 Olympic Games in Athens were the highlight of the year . There he came fourth with the Russian layer relay, on the 100 m and 200 m back courses he reached the semi-finals. In 2005 the Russian won the silver medal again at the World Cup in Montreal . In addition, there is fifth place over 100 m and seventh place 200 m back.

Vyatchanin remained without medals at the Short Course World Championships in Shanghai . With the 4 × 100 m relays in freestyle and medley he was fourth, over 50 m and 100 m back sixth each. The European Championships in Budapest were more successful , where the swimmer won the titles in the 100 m and 200 m backseat as well as with the 4 × 100 m individual relay. Over 50 m back he missed another medal in fourth. He also won bronze in the 2007 season relay in Melbourne . As fourth over 100 m and 200 m back he missed further medals. The European Championship in Eindhoven brought another title with the individual layer relay, silver over 200 m backs and bronze over 100 m backs. The greatest success of the Russian was winning the bronze medals over 100 m and 200 m back at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .
