ArtEZ Art & Design Zwolle

Art & Design Zwolle is the recent naming of the Art Academy of Zwolle . Her name was previously ArtEZ Christian Academy for Fine Arts in Zwolle (Christelijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten). It is part of the ArtEZ Faculty for Art & Design, which also includes the branches in Enschede and Arnhem .

The academy

Before the merger took place in 2002, which led to the creation of today's art academy, it was called the Christelijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten (CABK) and was part of the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Constantijn Huygens from 1986 until the merger in 2002 .

In the winter of 2003/2004, the Academy moved from its previous premises, a former barracks ( Van Heutzkazerne ) in Kampen , to a former hospital ( Sophia-ziekenhuis ) in neighboring Zwolle. Later three more buildings were added in the neighborhood.

The teachers are always appointed on a part-time basis and generally have an income outside of school in addition to their teaching activities. This mostly in professions or freelance activities in the creative industries.
