The Asia district is located in the Cañete province of the Lima region in central western Peru . The district founded on July 24, 1964 has an area of 279.36 km². At the 2017 census, 9,784 residents lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 3466, in 2007 6618. The administrative center is the small town of Asia with 1198 inhabitants (as of 2017).
Geographical location
The Asia District is located in the central west of the Cañete Province. It has a 27 km long stretch of coast on the Pacific coast . The river Río Omas flows through the district in a west-southwest direction and flows into the sea. The district extends about 15.5 km inland. This is where the foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera rise . The coastal plain is mostly covered with desert vegetation. The national road 1S ( Panamericana ) runs along the coast through the district. Isla Asia is located off the coast .
The Asia district borders in the northwest on the Mala district , in the northeast on the Coayllo district , in the east on the Quilmaná district and in the south on the Cerro Azul district .
