Baumheide is a district of Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia . The district belongs to the Heepen district .

history

The city of Bielefeld is not further subdivided into administrative or political units below the ten districts . Districts in Bielefeld are therefore only informal sub-areas, the delimitation of which mostly relates to the area of ​​an old community. However, there was never a municipality of Baumheide, which makes a demarcation difficult. For statistical purposes, however, Bielefeld is divided into “statistical districts”. The area of ​​the statistical district 52 Baumheide / Halhof is often understood as the district of Baumheide.

Most of today's Baumheide area was reclassified from Heepen to Bielefeld in 1930. At that time there were sewage fields of the city of Bielefeld on the site . The first residential buildings were built after the Second World War . In the 1960s and 1970s, a large housing estate was finally built there with individual up to ten-story high-rise buildings, broken up by single and terraced houses in between. In 1965, an area around today's Donauschwabenstraße from Brake to Bielefeld was incorporated into the new large estate .

Since the municipal reorganization of the Bielefeld area in 1973 and the associated formation of districts , Baumheide has belonged to the Bielefeld district of Heepen.

In 2019 Baumheide with Halhof had 7875 inhabitants.

The Friedenskirche am Hagenkamp was the Protestant church for Baumheide until 2010. The parish church Maria Königin on Donauschwabenstraße has existed for Catholic believers since 1982 .

The district is connected to Bielefeld city center by line 2 of the Bielefeld Stadtbahn . Bus routes 25 (Baumheide - Jahnplatz - Dürerstraße), 27 (Baumheide - Schildesche - Siegfriedplatz) and 30 (Brake - Heepen - Stieghorst - Sennestadt - Schloß Holte ) also operate in Baumheide .

Sports

The Leineweberring , a motorcycle racing track for grass and long-track races, is located on Eckendorfer Strasse in the south of the district .
