Holtkamp is a district in the Brackwede district of Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1969, Holtkamp was an independent municipality in the Bielefeld district .

geography

The city of Bielefeld is not further subdivided into administrative or political units below the ten districts . Districts in Bielefeld are therefore only informal sub-areas, the delimitation of which mostly relates to the area of an old community. For statistical purposes, however, Bielefeld is divided into 72 “statistical districts”. The old municipality of Holtkamp is now part of the statistical district 36 Ummeln / Holtkamp .

Holtkamp is a scattered agricultural settlement . In the north, Holtkamp borders on Steinhagen , in the south on Gütersloh and in the east on the Bielefeld district of Ummeln . The Lichtebach flows through Holtkamp .

history

Until the incorporation of Brackwede in 1970 Holtkamp was an independent municipality in the Office Brackwede the district Bielefeld . Ecclesiastically, the place has always belonged to the Protestant parish Isselhorst. In 1969 the councils of the municipalities of Isselhorst , Ebbesloh , Hollen and Niehorst, which also belong to the Brackwede office, decided to join the city of Gütersloh , while Holtkamp decided to join the then still independent city of Brackwede. In order for Holtkamp to have a land connection to Brackwede, part of Isselhorst was incorporated into Brackwede at the same time. This assignment came into effect on January 1, 1970. On January 1, 1973, the city of Brackwede was incorporated into Bielefeld as part of a renewed municipal reorganization, including Holtkamp. In order to round off the Bielefeld city limits in the Holtkamp area, an area was also reclassified from Steinhagen to Bielefeld.

Population development

No figures are available as of 2008, as the statistical district only contains common data on Ummeln and Holtkamp.
