Beecher Falls is a census-designated place in Essex County of the state of Vermont in the United States . At the 2010 census, Beecher Falls had 177 people. Beecher Falls consists of a settlement core in the town of Canaan and lies on the border with Canada and New Hampshire . This makes Beecher Falls the northeasternmost settlement in Vermont. It is part of the Berlin Micropolitan Statistical Area .

history

As a settlement area of ​​the town of Canaan, the Grant for Canaan of February 25, 1782, which was awarded by the Vermont Republic to John Wheeler, Jonathan and Araad Hunt and 41 others, also concerned Beecher Falls. Settlement of the town began in 1785. The border with Canada and New Hampshire was made mandatory in 1925 and Beecher Falls became a border station. Until then, there were occasional skirmishes on the borders.

In 1895 a subsidiary of Ethan Allen Global, Inc. was established in Beecher Falls. Furniture was made at this location. At times the factory was the largest furniture factory east of Michigan. The location was closed in 2009. As a result, 250 people lost their jobs.
