Bernhard "Bernd" Richter (born April 3, 1943 in Prague ) is a retired senior teacher and politician ( ÖDP ). From 1993 to 1995 he was federal chairman of his party, from 2002 to 2016 he was its state chairman in Baden-Württemberg.

biography

Richter spent the first two years of his life in Prague. He then lived on a farm near Bad Tölz from 1945 to 1952 and in Karlsfeld for the next three years . In 1955 his family moved to Colombia , where his parents worked as teachers and local staff as well as in setting up a farm. In 1962 he passed his Abitur at the German school "Colegio Andino" in Bogotá .

From 1962 to 1969 he studied German and English in Tübingen with an almost nine-month break that he spent in Great Britain . He then completed his legal clerkship . From 1971 he taught at the business school in Calw . From 1972 to 1979 he taught at the Schramberg grammar school . From 1979 to 1986 he worked as a teacher at the Colegio Andino, during which time he was involved in the school's scholarship project. At the same time he helped set up his parents' coffee farm.

From 1986 to 1989 he taught at the Thomas-Strittmatter-Gymnasium in St. Georgen in the Black Forest and from 1989 until his retirement in 2008 at the commercial vocational schools in his place of residence Schramberg.

From 1991 to 1993 he completed an additional course in Spanish in Freiburg im Breisgau .

Political career

In the 1970s he was involved in local politics for the FDP . In 1988 Richter joined the ÖDP.

He has been a member of Schramberg's municipal council since 1989 , from 1989 to 2004 for the “Buntspecht” electoral community, and since 2004 for the ÖDP, after it first stood there independently in 2004. He is a district councilor in the Rottweil district .

From 1993 to 1995 Richter was federal chairman of the ÖDP and as such the first to hold this post partly full-time. After criticizing his television appearance in the show about the small parties in the run-up to the federal election in 1994 , he was replaced by Hans Mangold in a vote .

From 2002 Richter was Baden-Württemberg's state chairman of the ÖDP and held this office until 2016. In this position, he replaced the theologian Verena Föttinger, who had previously held this office for a total of eleven years. He is also chairman of the ÖDP district association Rottweil and the ÖDP local association Schramberg.

In the 2005 Bundestag election , Richter ran on the Baden-Württemberg state list of the Family Party of Germany . In the Baden-Württemberg state elections on March 26, 2006 , judges in the Rottweil state electoral district took up 2.5% of the vote. In the state elections in 2011 it was 3.9%.

Others

Since 1995 he has been a member of the parish council in the Sulgen district of Schramberg. He is also a member of the following organizations: Greenpeace , WWF , BUND , VCD , Pax Christi , Mehr Demokratie eV and the German Youth Hostel Association .

Bernd Richter is married and has four children.
